BTW, if you search on that on Google, you'll turn up a page on the Federalist that presumes to contradict that first graphic. In the contradiction, the author makes the curious statement that thermometer readings are only 120 years old, which is so damned false that it's simply impossible to describe how false it is. Spotty, perhaps, but the thermometer was invented by Galileo.

120 years ago is 1900, and the Centigrade scale was developed in 1742. Fahrenheit scale was around since 1724. And the alcohol thermometer was developed in 1709.

Hey, only off by 200 years or so. Perfectly acceptable to global warming denialists who are bent out of shape over ancient scales being averaged over 120 years. Gee, is 200 bigger than 120? Hell, NOAA has arctic temperature records older than 1900.
