"Promise them more"

See a lot of criticism of democrats since they have lost all the special elections by fairly close margins. What are they going to do, promise people a chicken in every pot?

Democrats are very frustrated right now. These special elections have all been in striking distance and each one is elusive. Combine that with November's outcome and we are a very frustrated party. Nancy Pelosi needs to hunker down.

Somebody posted on DU or Daily Kos a theory that the electors are comprised of three parts. 1/3 are the Jonestown types that are ready to drink the kool aid when the Idiot in chief asks them. Another 1/3 are not quite that crazy and believe the fake news handed out and the final 1/3 are the democrats. In order for the dems to win they need to capture slightly more than half of the not so crazies.

For the people that sit out an election, give them a tax penalty or some such. For such a great nation with so many positive things going for it, is asking the citizenry to pay a little attention and participate too much???

mandatory voting sounds like something out of N Korea or the old Soviet Union. Doesn't really fit in a true democratic election.

But I could also see a successful first amendment argument made against it.
