"Ok, tech time"

Some of us, such as moi, have kids living at home. In such cases, said children are often bandwidth hogs, allowing nobody else any chance of internet time. Or, in other cases, somebody loves facebook and plays all the videos.

Me, I play games. Games are low bandwidth, but damned sensitive to latency caused by people playing two or three videos at the same time.

To cure this issue (and the wild thing is, they'll never notice it), go into your internet router as admin, and look for the tab for applications and gaming.

When you find it, enable QOS, enable gaming support, and then optimize priority for your pc as highest, and put in the MAC address. You can get the MAC address by either going to the Network and Sharing center, right clicking on the adaptor and then checking status and details (they call it physical address) or by opening a command prompt and using the command

ipconfig /all

Put the address in the router settings, tell it to save, and that's it. No more breakdowns due to ridiculous quantities of internet video and ads.

I would like to get one of those streaming devices for my tv, but we don't have high speed internet. We use an AT@T air card which sometimes is about 15mbs, but on average much lower. AT@T gave us a trial of their Uverse system which got up to 50mbs. The signal came from a cell tower and guess it didn't work for a lot people so they aren't going to offer it in our area.
The other thing we get 10g's per month before additional cost, so streaming could run up the cost.

Don't really have a good answer for that. Unless they put up a cell tower in your neighborhood.

I will say that I find it ridiculous that I could get wireless unlimited 4GLTE service in Kuwait for much cheaper than I could get it in the USA.

"When they deregulated cable TV way back when, cable immediately went....."

up in price. OK, you could argue that cable TV is not necessary as other utilities are necessary. But cable shot up in price the instant they deregulated it and hasn't looked back since.

They never should have deregulated the airlines either, but that's another argument.
