"Terrorism in Las Vegas. 20 dead, 100 injured. "

I have a gut feeling this is the American Taliban. White rednecks. Could be middle eastern. I dunno. But given the proximity to the Bundy nuttiness and what sounded like a fully automatic machine gun, I'm thinking white redneck craziness.

Presidential Twitter lunacy or mass shooting/destruction insanity of the man made variety.

Is that too much to ask?

How? Nine shot in Nashville less than a week ago, then (IIRC) 4 and 5 in Memphis last month. That's just what I track locally! Four or five isn't even a blip on the screens now!

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2017/oct/02/america-mass-shootings-gun-violence

We are so jaded to the NRA assisted murders, that WE DON'T EVEN NOTICE.

That's not even talking about how impossible it is to ignore the maniac in Chief.

How does that work?

Unfortunately there is too much terrorism carried out by middle easterners. Wether it be France, England, Germany or here in the U.S. But c'mon, this is terrorism. The MSM really needs to call a spade a spade.

My sister-in-law .. Has a grandson fighting for his life in Vegas. He had several surgeries during the night. They were getting ready to move him to ICU, when they discovered MORE bleeding in his stomach. His wife said: "He laid on top of me when there was no place to run."

My SIL and niece (Brad's mom) are TERRIFIED still.

Medical staff isn't sure where to start operating again.. So many wounds.

TERRORISM!! Call it what it is!

I'm not sure, but it sounds like the guy had a big gambling debt and decided to shoot everyone. A good question is where the fully automatic machine guns came from.

Gun laws are very loose in Nevada and Arizona. There is a device called a bump stock that turns a semi automatic gun into a fully automatic gun. It fits over the trigger. The gunman was a gambler and not some kind of state's rights idiot like I thought. The gunman's father was on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list back in the sixtys. But I don't know what that proves.

I hope Brad pulls through. Since he made it to the hospital, maybe he stands a chance of surviving.

Could be as soon as 18 hours.. but no longer than 5 days. Unless a miracle happens.

Yes, they finally confirmed it was a bump stock. Police probably waited a few days, hoping they wouldn't be doing advertising for the simple and legal gimmick that turns a semi auto into an automatic that fires as fast or faster than a Thompson.

An unsupervised gun range. Kind of alarming. One of three out in the middle of a national forest. There mostly for deer hunters to sight in. It was a trigger modification that fit on the outside of the gun. I was there the next day and the Montgomery County sheriff was cruising around looking for the idiot.

Brad is: Sargent Brad Powers, from the San Bernardino Sherriff's department. He is still listed as critical. Has been unconscious since the shooting.

Doctors did not expect survival, but he keeps fooling them and survives, each night.

The Sherriff's Department, flew his mom to Vegas the first part of the week and she has been updating daily. Mostly "no change"..

I keep sending hugs and good vibes.

Not on the skill games, but on slot machines. Having to do with cell phones and number generators. The Missouri Gaming Commission caught on and rightfully clamped down where this particular cheat was being deployed. It may have been deployed by Paddock in Nevada.

...and the Russians are somehow involved.

Read over at DU.

He wired $100K to his girlfriend's family in the Philippines.

If he was making fat money from cheating at slots and got extremely pissed off that the Nevada Gaming Commission caught wind of it and stopped it, then this would be a perfect snapshot of unbridled greed in America. And a perfect snapshot of what's wrong with republicans in America.

While some of the reports centered around "suspicious activity," most were "currency transaction reports," which casinos are required to file with the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network when a person withdraws or deposits more than $10,000 in cash.
The number of reports prompted by Paddock's activities reflects -- at the very least -- how routine it was for him to gamble with large sums of money.

In one case, Paddock recently won $40,000 on a slot machine, his brother, Eric Paddock, told The Associated Press.

Apparently, the scam is a team thing. Using a cell phone and hacked information from Russian mafia. A player goes up to a particular slot machine and plays a few hands. Those hands are recorded by cell and sent back to headquarters for analysis. The player stops playing for a while until the analysis is completed. Then he goes back to that machine with the hq computer knowing when the slot will deal a winning hand. The player then bets his ass off on the winning hands. Then the player leaves the machine to let it cool off.

It was an Australian made slot machine that Russian crooks were able to crack.

It's all speculation on my part, but if true, this is another black mark against the Ruskies.

These agents roam casinos from Poland to Macau to Peru in search of slots whose PRNGs have been deciphered by Alex. They use phones to record video of a vulnerable machine in action, then transmit the footage to an office in St. Petersburg. There, Alex and his assistants analyze the video to determine when the games' odds will briefly tilt against the house. They then send timing data to a custom app on an agent's phone; this data causes the phones to vibrate a split second before the agent should press the "Spin" button. By using these cues to beat slots in multiple casinos, a four-person team can earn more than $250,000 a week.

If Paddock was doing this, it's small wonder he had a lot of money.
