"Higher standard"

There has been probably more than 100 individuals that have gone to jail for crimes from the Nixon, Reagan and Bush administrations up until today. I can't think of but a handful of democrats, but everyone expects democrats to live up to a higher standard. If Franken is indeed guilty of sexual hanky panky as far as repugs are concerned his guilt far out weighs people like those creeps Moore and Trump.

Not after defending him from Ms.Tweeden. There is a writer for the Washington Post who says we should throw Franken under the bus already.

Not so damn fast.

I raise a skeptical eyebrow when I hear damning accusations against solid liberals. Like Al Franken and George Takei. I really hope Sen.Franken is not a serial butt grabber. Time will tell.

He is quick witted, good in front of a camera, knows policy and is a staunch liberal. Senator Frankens don't grow on trees.

It's hard to imagine Charlie Rose as friskie and lewd, but that's what eight women are saying.

Too many good liberals and democrats have what I call pants around the ankles disease. We all have feet of clay, but every single democrat should be acutely aware of the treatment Bill Clinton received at the hands of unforgiving hypocritical republicans.

But he deserves the same opportunity to defend himself as anyone. Rose is not a liberal so its no skin off my nose if he is guilty as charged.

Tweeden's claims about Franken have a certain credibility about them. It doesn't help Franken when people (supposedly) on our side slut shame her or produce easily debunked lies about her claims.

If Franken has a positive defense, we probably won't see it until the ethics investigation is complete.
For now we can just hope people who witnesses the interaction, between Franken and Tweeden, on that USO tour will come forward.

Seeing republicans run roughshod right over effective democrats for three decades now, I have an automatic doubt about charges levelled at democrats. And especially after seeing all of the photos of all of Ms. Tweeden. Slutshaming? Maybe so, but republicans are the sluts who have earned it.

Lessee now, two SOLID Republicans show up and accuse Franken of hanky panky.

The credibility of that picture is in huge question, example, where the hell is Franken's left little fingertip? Why the hell did she go to Roger Stone BEFORE going public? Why hasn't the photographer come forwards and said something? Why hasn't SHE outed the photographer? How the hell is she sleeping on that seat without being strapped in. Why isn't Franken strapped in? Why isn't Franken wearing a flak jacket per regulations? Yeah.

All of which are answered by that word, "Photoshop".

As for the other, seriously, she's accusing Franken of grabbing her ass in front of hundreds of people during a public gathering, with her husband looking right at him while taking a picture.

I'm getting more and more of a stink on this.

And THAT is why you aren't going to see a Senate investigation. They aren't stupid.

Yeah, I think republicans would rather not find out what's good for the goose.

As far as the ass grab picture is concerned, any man of public standing would be almost deathly afraid of getting punched in the nose by an irate righteous husband surrounded by hundreds of people than anything else.

She has a copy of the picture, so she knows who the photographer was. If she shows up under oath and lies about that, I hope she gets put in jail till she either tells who it was or admits it's a forgery.

Odds are, she faked it. If not, then she knows the photographer won't lie for her.

The one with her wearing the flak vest. I don't really care if she was aware of it or not. After seeing the pictures of her behaviour on stage for these USO shows, I'll allow for a wide latitude of randy behaviour.

I was referring to the picture at the state fair that was supposedly taken by the ladies husband. The one where she claims Senator Franken grabbed her ass. Judging by the look on her face in that photo, she does not look startled but happy and serene.

When they started turning up the Ariana Huffington stuff and aiming it at Franken's head, I knew we were in swift boat country.

I'm thinking we're looking at Republicans who've realized that Democrats can't simply deny and move on.

The Democratic Party is a nest of cats, and they love to scratch each other.

So these ridiculous things are going to be cast out over every liberal in Washington over the next few months.

I'm looking forwards to the Trump voting aide who claims Elizabeth Warren grabbed his crotch. That's rolling right down the pike.

It's a twofer for the right. NOT ONLY do they get the Democrats fighting amongst themselves, they also get to discredit actual abuse victims, because nobody can figure out who's telling the truth.

Right now, the media is spinning this as "we must always believe the accuser", and pretending Republicans would never play any dirty tricks.

One of the accusers claims to be a liberal who voted for Franken. One of the women had just finished singing with the feminist choir at the Women's Political Caucus.

Pants around the ankles disease. Politicians really seem to be highly susceptible to this disease. Maybe it's the power of their jobs that overstimulates the libido.

When LBJ was majority leader of the Senate, he ran a goddamned bordello right in the Senate. Along with Senate page Bobby Baker. They didn't have a cure for pants around the ankles disease, but they figured out a way of keeping things secret.

It's worth remembering though, Democrats punish persons with aggressive sexual issues.

Republicans elect them.

If Franken has shot himself in the foot here, then that's how it is.

Still doesn't make sense to me. OTOH, I've never had one of these jobs where everyone runs around kowtowing and worshipping me. That goes to the head awfully easily.

Uninvited groping of the butt or other parts is bad, but not on the level with what Roy Moore is accused of. I do not think Franken should resign from the Senate. I don't think the transgression reaches that level of remedy.

Republicans would call for resignation, but they are republicans. Ignore them.

Unless the latest anonymous sources identify themselves it still too early to condemn Franken. As noted the dems are all over this case and quite a number are calling for him to resign. Just what we need when the vote for Moore and Jones, tax schemes by repugs and elimination of net neutrality coming up.

As I've said before, this thing stinks.

And media false equivalence isn't helping.

You CANNOT equate a high end felony with a low end misdemeanor. Which is exactly what is being done.
