"Did you guys miss the proposal for legal theft at Dept of Labor?"

No shit, they are actually proposing to allow collection of tips to a "tip pool", without the requirement to redistribute.

Not hard to figure out how that'll work.

The requirement to redistribute was always in the rules, till this proposal. Hard to think that was "accidental".

that governed tips. I always thought it was the honor system. So now they are gonna screw the people on the bottom rung. Waiters and waitresses. I wonder which republican congress critter last held a job that required manual labor.

The American version of Boxing Day should include a pair of gloves that say Everlast on them.

Wonder if all the Trump supporters those that actuall work for a living signed up for the crap that is taking place. There must have been some way that all the rules that the Obama admin put in place could have been made permanent. The way things are now going in 4 years of Trump you would never have known there was an Obama admin.

It's a DOL regulation rollback that says the owners can have a tip pool, and a whole lot of verbiage that boils down to "owners must pay out tips till you hit minimum wage, with an owner contribution of at least 2.40$ per hour" as I recall it. IOW, 5 bucks worth of tips go to the owner every hour, plus 5 bucks for each person in "back", because they don't have to pay them even minimum wage, but the "tip pool minimum". Call it ten bucks in tips. To keep it off the records, they usually pay out the tips every night, then just cut a check for the 2.40 per hour at the end of a couple of weeks.

REALLY SUCKS. You wouldn't think that could get worse, but allowing them to keep tips over that minimum wage requirement just made it worse.

The Trump administration is simply legalizing theft.
