"Where are all the spectators at the Olympics?" Edited on Tue Feb-20-18 05:40 PM by DavidLind
I just watched Lindsay Vonn do her downhill ski run and was impressed by the fence lines being completely devoid of spectators. I seem to remember those fence lines in the 60s and 70s being lined usually from top to bottom with spectators. Is everyone happy to watch on their smartphone and cable?
If I were advising a city on bidding to be a host Olympic city, I would say "Don't!!". Once all that taxpayer money is spent on those impressive Olympic sporting facilities and the Olympics are over and done with, all the facilities are home to again are mothballs. When the Olympics are over, the facilities are the biggest white elephant in the world.
The Olympics are a republican's idea of a good business model; Completely funded by taxpayers and disposed of at the end of the day.

The thing is you can take bling bling to the pawn shop to pay the rent.
If no one wants to host future Olympics, then now is the perfect time to RECYCLE. Those past hosts can host again if they haven't bulldozed their facilities. And ones that are still stable governments.
